The Un-Resolution

Posted: January 4, 2013 in Exercise, Physical activity

I’m not one to usually make New Year’s resolutions.

It’s not that I’m perfect… nothing could be further from the truth. It’s that I know it’s not going to last, so why set myself up for another failure?

I’m trying something new this year… I’m trying to go to the gym every day. Today is my third straight day. It was the usual appointment stuff. Ryan and Cory worked me over like a rented mule and at the end of it, I feel that much better (except for my achy ankles) and I also feel much more awake than I normally am.

Now, I mentioned that resolutions usually fail for me. I think this is due to my extreme case of the “Ooooh! Shiny!”s. It’s more of a case of adult ADD. I just tend to get sidetracked by what’s going on around me. Whether it be a nice car or a conversation, I can get drawn into something that I didn’t want to be drawn into.

This is what I’m trying to avoid. I’m not doing the gym thing because I want to, I’m doing it because I need to. Let’s see how many days I can do.
